Rabbi Strulowitz

Rabbi Strulowitz

Rabbi Joshua Strulowitz has been the Rabbi at WSIS since the summer 2012. He has helped grow our Shul to new heights and quickly ingratiated himself to the community. Under Rabbi Strulowitz our Shul has continued to grow, and our programming and learning opportunities has never been more active.

Rabbi Strulowitz teaches numerous classes throughout the week and Shabbat (many are available online), writes a weekly blog post about Torah and the world around us, and has inspired many of our members to take on more active leadership roles in the Shul. His Shabbat morning derashas are known for their wit, insight and inspiring take home messages.

Prior to assuming the leadership at WSIS, Rabbi Strulowitz was the rabbi of Congregation Adath Israel in San Francisco.  He has been profiled in the Wall Street Journal and in the book Straight Down the Middle, a book about golf and religion written by renowned author Joshua Karp.

Rabbi Strulowitz was raised in North Miami Beach, FL and graduated from Hillel Community Day School. He attended Yeshivat Reishit Yerushalayim in Jerusalem , and continued on to Yeshiva University where he graduated with a BA in Economics and the Mazer Yeshiva Program Louis and Lena Lankisky award for excellence in Talmudic studies.

While at YU he was program director and co-founder of Panim, a college outreach program. He then spent two years at YU's Gruss Institute in Jerusalem. He continued on to TORCH, a community kollel in Houston, TX where he taught numerous classes throughout the community including at NASA's Johnson Space Center. In September 2005 he began his post as Rabbi of Congregation Adath Israel. Rabbi Strulowitz and his wife Bethany have three daughters and a son.
